How does Offline Mode work?

Offline Mode allows you to continue practicing English even when you don't have access to an internet connection. After completing a one-time setup process, BetterSpeak can run directly on supported devices, enabling conversations without relying on cloud-based processing.

This feature is ideal for travelers, commuters, or anyone who wants uninterrupted language practice in locations with limited or unreliable internet access. Because speech processing occurs on the device itself, Offline Mode also provides an additional level of privacy.

Setting up Offline Mode only requires a one-time download. To begin, open your Profile, select Offline Mode, and follow the instructions to download the necessary language pack.

Because the download may be large, it's recommended to use a stable Wi-Fi connection during setup. Once the installation is complete, you'll be able to access Offline Mode whenever you want to practice without an internet connection.

Offline Mode is currently available on iPhone 15 Pro models and newer iOS devices. This requirement exists because the language model runs directly on the device and requires advanced hardware capabilities to deliver a smooth experience.

As mobile technology continues to evolve, support for additional devices may become available in future updates.

At the moment, Offline Mode supports English practice. Learners can continue having spoken conversations, completing practice sessions, and improving their speaking skills even when they are offline.
